greatpph asked:

Is it true that they are required by law not to rent any cars that have a chip, less than pencil point in size??

I rented a car and when they were checking the car, they told me they were checking for cracks in the window, didn’t see any, so signed and agreed. When I return the car, the car rental company say there is a chip on the windsheild, and by law, they have to replace the whole window, not just repair the chip. They have already charged my credit card.

Where can I find more information about this “law” they are referring to?

TIA!

Amber asked:

I’m trying to see if anyone would know what the next step would be if a claim is denied. I was at a fast food restaurant sitting in the drive thru. While I was waiting, snow and ice fell on my windshield cracking and chipping it. When the ice fell, I looked at the girl in the drive thru and asked if they cleaned off the roof. She apologized and said they were trying their best to keep the roof clean. I drove out of the drive thru and that’s when I noticed the chip and *****. I called the store back and the gentleman told me that he couldn’t help me but to call back and speak to a GM. I did and ended up taking my car up there so that they can take pictures of the damage. I told the GM I was going on vacation in a few days, and I needed to get it repaired because my car was going to be sitting outside in the snow and I didn’t want the ***** to spider out. He told me ok and that he will contact his insurance company and see about getting me reimbursed. I got my windsheild repaired for $53. I just talked to the insurance company today and I was told my claim would probably be denied on liability because it was through no fault of the restaurant and she knew for a fact they were up their shoveling the roof. If the claim is denied, is there another route I can take to attempting to get reimbursed?
yeah. I did try going through my insurance company. Thanks.

bluevivid77 asked:

I know every insurance company is different but I wanted to know if this would count against me if I was to call it in. The front windsheild of my van got hit by a rock when I was on the highway. It made a small ***** like a spider ***** on the passenger side of the window. Would insurance cover this sort of thing? I wouldn’t need a new windsheild, just the ***** repaired. I am just worried that because I put in a claim it may raise my premiums???I have never had a claim before so I wasn’t sure. I know it’s not a car accident but would they classify it as that? Has anyone gone through this before and would it be safer to just pay for it out of pocket? I didn’t really want to pay anything as I pay for car insurance and was hoping this would cover it. Any ideas?

Dev A asked:

my 95 honda civic has a pretty long ***** going across the top of the windsheild. It is on the inside, and it happened when the previous owner was putting in an aftermarket rear view mirror. it is a pretty clean, straight crack, not a spider *****… And it is not obstructing the drivers view. It is all the way at the top. Also, if it will not pass, how much will replacing it cost about? also, what is the difference between repairing and replacing it? Is it true that it might not pass inspection if i just get it repaired? thank you
